The UK Sprayers Association (UKSA) is proud to announce a new partnership with MATE – Men and Their Emotions, the mental health charity founded by comedian and mental health advocate Daniel O’Reilly.

This partnership marks an important step forward in UKSA’s commitment to supporting not only professional development within the spray finishing industry, but also the wellbeing and mental health of the people working within it.

Supporting the People Behind the Business

Running a business in the trades can be rewarding, but it can also come with significant pressures.

Long hours, financial stress, isolation, and the demands of self-employment can all take a toll on mental health — particularly for those working alone or running small businesses.

Through this new partnership, UKSA members will gain access to the wider MATE support network and community, helping to create a stronger support system for people across the industry.

Access to the MATE Community

As part of the partnership, UKSA members will be able to access the MATE social network and community platform, providing:

  • A safe space for conversations around mental health
  • Support from others facing similar challenges
  • Access to wellbeing-focused content and discussions
  • Opportunities to connect with like-minded people

The aim is to encourage more open conversations around mental health within the trades and help remove the stigma that still exists around asking for support.

Supporting MATE Through UKSA Growth

UKSA is also proud to confirm that profits generated through the association will help support the ongoing work of MATE and its mental health initiatives.

This means that as UKSA continues to grow, so too will its ability to give back and support a cause that has real impact across communities and industries throughout the UK.

Creating Opportunities Through Training and Retraining

The partnership will also focus on creating pathways into the decorating and spray finishing industries for individuals connected to MATE who may be looking for a fresh start or new career opportunities.

UKSA will work to:

  • Help signpost individuals towards funded training opportunities
  • Provide industry guidance and support
  • Encourage progression into decorating and spray finishing careers
  • Support people in building sustainable businesses within the trades

This initiative aims to create genuine opportunities for people looking to retrain, rebuild confidence, and move towards self-employment or skilled work within the industry.

Looking Ahead

This partnership is about far more than business.

It’s about building a stronger community, supporting mental health, and creating opportunities for people both inside and outside the industry.

UKSA is proud to be working alongside MATE and Daniel O’Reilly on a partnership that we believe can make a real difference.
